David Boyd started business in 1955 selling lawnmowers from a VW van. In 1959 David and his brother Bob formed the company Boyd Bros (situated in Collingwood Street) selling lawnmowers, wonderheats and motorcycles. The motorcycles franchises available to them for sale was Jawa,Puch, Suzuki, Vespa, Enzetta and Kawasaki. The next big enterprise the company undertook was to take on the Honda franchise 1960.
In 1967 the company was moved to the premises at 99 Victoria street , and expanded also in the premises next door. In 1975 David and Margaret Boyd bought out Bob and changed the company name to David Boyd Ltd trading as Boyd Honda. In 1997 Greg and Sue Boyd became the new owners of Boyd Honda.
In 2003 Greg and Sue moved the business to new premises at 403 Te Rapa Road. On the 1 April 2008 we resigned as Honda dealers and took on a new and exciting challenge with Suzuki and KTM.
Today with our great team we still are proud to be selling and servicing new Suzuki and KTM. We also have a great selection of used bikes to suit most riding needs. Our workshop is happy to work on any Japanese or European brand.
Our parts department is one of the largest in the country and with our experienced and helpful team in there we can assist in clothing, accessories and genuine parts for most motorcycles. We also have huge range of casual gear so everyone can find something!
